It is Possible to Produce Eye From Human Skin with the Stem Cell Technique

The stem cell development may allow the production of new eyes from human skin.

Japanese scientists, led by Kohji Nishida from Osaka University, successfully grew cornea that provided visually handicapped rabbits with sight.

Nishida wrote “we are at the starting point of clinical trials for eye transplantation, which will make people able to see” in today’s Nature. Nishida thinks that human cornea repair will be possible in the next 3 years.
